The Campaign for Educational Equity is a research and policy center at Teachers College, Columbia University, that champions the right of all children to meaningful educational opportunities and works to secure the full range of resources necessary for quality education for low-income children and children of color currently being denied this opportunity.
As a member of the Campaign committee, I worked on interrelated programs that utilize research and dissemination, policy development, and community engagement in order to define and secure the full range of resources, supports, and services necessary to provide the opportunity for a meaningful education to socioeconomically disadvantaged children.
These resources include high-quality teaching, a rich and rigorous curriculum, adequate facilities, and sufficient, up-to-date learning materials. They also include the most important out-of-school resources in areas like early childhood education, physical and mental health care, after-school and summer services and family support.
